Voice over IP

It wasn’t long ago that the home phone was the standard for making calls. Today practically everyone has a cell phone. While this convenience cannot be denied, Voice Over IP, or VoIP, is quickly gaining recognition as the cheapest way to make local and international calls online. Understanding how to call online for a lower cost than using a cell phone can get somewhat technical, but VoIP essentially takes advantage of not needing the specific voice and data networks that a cell phone does. Even though these calls may be cheaper, the call quality itself is usually quite good. It is no wonder then that as the world moves towards Internet integration VoIP is beginning to emerge as a new standard. While VoIP calls may not eclipse cell phone providers just yet, the much lower price tag is undeniably difficult to resist. Various sites provide "pay as you go" options to call online and are worth checking out for anyone interested in cheap communication alternatives.
